 A baby needs style just as much as the grown-ups.

Feeling Fall?

Most of you may think of sweaters,boots,bonfires,football games and crunchy leaves when you think of fall.

 But not me.

I think of none of those things, really.

All I think about it stocking my cabinet full of warmer,richer colors for all of my clients who are feeling inspired and ready to make their seasonal change to their look.

I LOVE fall because of this.

It is the time when my platinum blondes become butter blondes. When my butter blondes become my chestnut browns, when my chestnut browns become chocolately browns...

and my most favorit-est clients become......RED.

Not only are we ready for bump in the color wheel, but also in length. I envision shorter,stonger haircuts this fall.

Solid lines, heavy fringe and short short short.

50's Inspired.

Have you ever watched a movie and thought, "wow, I want my hair to look like that..."

Yea..So have I!

Guess what- I experimented on myself this weekend and my hair turned out pretty darn close.

It is so fun to be able to try out new things with your hair.

 I think this is the easiest way to keep yourself from getting bored of your hair and this way, you are a lot less likely to do something impulsive--   That you could potentially regret later.

Pull out those hot rollers, curling irons and hair clips ya'll!

Ombre kinda day

Today was an Ombre Kinda Day.

I had a client today who was the perfect candidate for an

 ombre balyage.

It looked fantastic.

She is moving to Cali soon, what better way

to prep for the move than

with perfectly tousled beachy hair.

Cowabunga dudes.

Pay Attention Next time.

Picture this.
You have an appointment with your most favorite hairstylist. (me..j/k)

She gives you the best cut ever, as usual and then styles it just perfectly.

You make the same joke that you always do, implying that you want to take (me) your stylist home with you so they could do your hair that way, everyday.

But while you are staring at yourself in the mirror, thinking... 'wow, geez... I look Hot, where am I going to go now...?' You miss all the important steps on how to recreate this look.

Which means...

 a) You might hate your hair in the morning.

b) You may attempt it, but it just doesn't look the same

c) You call your stylist right away for a quick lesson,tip or recut.

I know you all know what I am talking about here. Lets be honest. You could probably say that all of these have happened at least once.

You are completely normal.

BUT.

Pay attention to your stylist, watch intently and listen to him/her as they educate you on product usage, styling tools and tips to styling your new cut.Ask them questions on why,what and how they are using those products in your hair.

You will gain a new trust in your stylist, and you will love your hair even more knowing you can do it.all.by.yourself.

Believe me.

Try it next time. I dare you.

Pink is just pretty, ok.

I always have wished that when I pinched my cheeks they would be pink.

I also always have wished that my lips were plump full and were perfectly stained pink.

The other day I had a wild cherry slushie and it stained my lips.

My pout was stanied a red hue and I  pretended it was real life by making duck lips in the rearview mirror. Really, I did.

If you know me well, you know that I NEVER, and I mean

NEVER

wear nailpolish, let alone purchase nail polish.

BUT

Yesterday,I turned a new leaf.

Every since having a baby- I have been embracing my 'womanhood'

and finding beauty in all things feminine.

I have found a new love for earrings,hair irons,floppy hats,COLOR,and now, Nail polish.

As I stood in front of the lovely array of colors, I thought to myself.. "I want the ugliest color of them all."

Because those always look the coolest.

I purchased, Below Deck- By China Glaze.

It's gorgeous. I love how monotone it is.

It's like a silent beauty of the bunch.

Its almost gray-almost brown- and almost purple.

Like, it can't make up its polish-mind, or something?

Anyways. I Love It!

(While my baby took a little nap, I swiped it on and hoped he wouldn't wake until they were dry.)

Pheasant feathers and Birdcage veils..

This past September, I had the priviledge of being the hairstylist for this amazingly gorgeous bride.

I met her at her hotel and spent some time with her and her lovely family and friends.

I also had the honor of doing her sister and a bridesmaids hair.

The girls were adorned in chunky necklaces and hair pieces.

Kelly's detail on everything was impeccable. She was sewing beads onto a cardigan as I did her hair, this was NO bridezilla!

She wore a blush hued dress that fit like a glove and her hair was mod-vintage inspired.

It was a breeze consulting with her, she had a clear vision and photos, which I love!

Her hair turned out fantastically.

She pinned a few pheasant feathesr into it, and even made her own birdcage veil.

Her creativity was off the charts!

She made me want to get married all over again.

I love music, and I love to sing. I also love Bobs.

I also love bangs.

I wonder what she is singing into the mic? Or if she is on the radio?

Or maybe... She is being interviewed about her awesome haircut?

Maybe they just asked her, " who cuts your hair?"

her response, "My Stylist, Kristy...."

Look at what I did! All by Myself!

I promise, I am not this vain. But this morning I was not excited about washing my hair, in fact, I was avoiding it at all costs. I decided, Hey! I am a hairstylist, I should be able to do my own hair right?

Well, I proved myself correct! I was so excited that I had to show you.

This was so incredibly easy, and now I believe that YOU can do it too!

All you need is a dirty head of hair, a comb, some bobbipins, and a good hairspray.

- I started off by sectioning my hair in 3 sections (Mohawk clipped, ear-across to ear clipped, and left the bottom, or nape down.)

-Take the Nape section and make a ponytail without pulling it all the way through, so an unfinished bun.

- Then start pulling hair from the next section, this is where you can do whatever you want! Take 1 inch sections make sure to backcomb so they have a good foundation and drape around,along,beside to the ponytail (make sure to cover your binder, and hid those pins, thats just tacky.) Also smooth out the backcombing-- no one likes a ratsnest.

-Continue draping, backcombing, smoothing and clipping, not to mention hairspraying

-The Front, depending on if you want a part or not, you can create any look you want, I personally went with a parted pomp. I backcombed and pulled it back off my face still keeping my part.

Reunions like this are Hot

I had the opportunity to reunite with a beautiful old friend from High School the other day and Boy! am I happy I did! She was wanting something new and fun and brought in a couple pictures of inspiration.

Eventually we hope to get a little shorter and funkier with the look with "baby steps"

She took these adorable photographs, and I am so happy she did! I can't stop staring at how gorgeous she is!

Darci

Earlier this week I received an email from Darci, a loyal follower. She had questions concerning her hair and was interested in what I thought about it, and what I would do to it.

She attached this adorable photo, which made my job so much easier.

First off, she is gorgeous and look at those locks! Immediately you can tell she has a LOT of hair, and probably textured to some extent. The length is pretty but not ideal for her petite little face.

My ideas were to bring up her length to her collar bone with long, seamless layers that melt together with a sweepy bang. That way her big hair won't overpower her dainty features, and sweepy bangs will draw attention to her sparkly eyes while creating a soft cheekbone.

Here is how it turned out!

Wedding bells were ringing for this beautiful bride! I was so excited to play a role in making her look her absolute best. My younger sister, who is an esthetician (trained in NY) accompanied me and did Nell's makeup. Nell looked AmaZINg!

Melissa is a dear friend of mine and she is absolutely gorgeous! I am always so excited to do her hair, you wouldn't guess it by these photos but her hair is WILD!

When she walked in her hair was dry and brittle and totally bleached out.

I love her blonde, but we both agreed we needed to tone it down for the winter weather.

She also normally wears her hair naturally curly.

We added more layers to keep the shape easy to maintain and also very fun for her to wear.

I love this picture of her laughing.(had to add it) She seems happy with her new look! ;)

Emily was so excited to have bangs, we discussed it previously and she was more than ready for a change.

I thought this was wonderful because I felt like her previous look seemed to drag down her face shape and her color seemed a bit 'DRAB'. Bumping the color and lifing the bangs above her cheekbones created an uplifting look.

I always say the best way to "change" your overall look is to add Bangs. My FAVE!

We bumped up her hair color to a buttery,golden blonde to compliment her naturally sun pinched skin, and created a cool fringe. that just dust her eyelashes for a radical new look.

Doesn't Emily look just like Jennifer Aniston from Marley and Me now?
